Drug Uses
Pravachol is used for decreasing high lipid levels and high cholesterol, with diet and exercise. It is also used to prevent certain heart problems, including slowing down the progression of hardening of the arteries in patients with heart disease. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How Taken
Use Pravachol as directed by your doctor. Use Pravachol with or without a meal. It is recommended to take Pravachol at the same time each day. Take Pravachol one hour before or 4 hours after taking bile-acid reducing resins (e.g., cholestyramine, colestipol).
More Information
Pravachol can cause dizziness or blurred vision. These effects can worsen if Pravachol is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Take Pravachol with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly dangerous tasks until you know how you react to this pill. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, notify your physician. This medicine should be used only by the patient for whom it has been recommended. Do not take less or more or take it more often than recommended by your doctor.
